Glenmara Ventures holds three operating companies in the north of England. We are not an investment fund and we do not raise outside capital — the group has been owned by the same two families since 1998, and we buy roughly one business a decade.
The operating companies run themselves. Head office is four people, and its job is capital allocation, insurance, and staying out of the way.
Planned and reactive building maintenance for schools, care homes and multi-site retail across Yorkshire and the north east. 61 staff.
HVAC and pipework installation and servicing for commercial and light industrial sites. Holds the group's Gas Safe and F-Gas registrations. 28 staff.
Owns and lets the group's four freehold sites, plus two industrial units let to third parties. No staff.
We buy businesses that already work, from owners who want to stop. We do not turn them around, break them up, or run a synergy programme, and we have never sold one.
What that means in practice: the trading name stays, the management stays, and the accounts are consolidated once a year rather than reported on monthly.
